Hillary ‘surprised’ by staffer using personal email
In the latest batch of Hillary Clinton emails released by the State Department on Friday, the former secretary expressed surprise that a department staffer was using a personal email address.
{mosads}“Is he [Near Eastern Affairs] currently? Or was he in Embassy? I was surprised that he used personal email account if he is State,” Clinton wrote in an email dated Feb. 27, 2011.
The email conversation shows a State employee named John Godfrey wrote a detailed account of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi that was forwarded to Clinton.
Clinton, now the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, noticed his personal email address and asked for whom he worked.
“Us,” came the reply from top adviser Jake Sullivan.
The FBI is investigating the private email server and account Clinton held while serving as secretary of State, which may have incluced classified information, possibly posing a threat to national security.
The State Department released 3,007 pages of emails on Friday morning. Eighty-two percent of Clinton’s emails have so far been made public.
The next and final batch of Clinton’s emails are scheduled to be released at the end of the month.
