Univision anchor: Trump fight is ‘personal’

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos said on Wednesday that he is offended by GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s rhetoric concerning immigration.

{mosads}Ramos added that he wants an interview with the outspoken billionaire so he can challenge his policy stances over the issue.

“This is very important to the Hispanic community,” he told host Chris Cuomo on CNN’s “New Day.” “This is also personal.

“It is extreme what he is saying about immigrants in this country,” added Ramos, who has dual citizenship with both the U.S. and Mexico. “This is not just his country. It is our country, too.”

Trump ejected Ramos from a press conference in Dubuque, Iowa on Tuesday night following a tense exchange over immigration policy.

Ramos said on Wednesday that he is interested in confronting the New York business mogul directly, following their confrontation the night before.

“I want to have an interview with Donald Trump,” he insisted. “I sent him a handwritten note with my cell phone number on it a few weeks ago.

“Obviously he did not like my question,” Ramos added. “The one who was out of line was Donald Trump.”

Ramos argued in a separate interview on Wednesday morning that his ousting from Trump’s press conference was intentional.

“It was very clear from his body language that he was giving orders,” he told host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

“I’ve been a journalist for 30 years of my life,” Ramos added. “Never in my life have I been thrown out of a press conference. What I would expect is that I could ask a question as a journalist. I would expect Mr. Trump to answer honestly.”
