If Sen. Ted Cruz doesn’t win the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, he might have a future as a voice actor on one of his favorite TV shows, “The Simpsons.”

The Texas senator turned presidential hopeful joined BuzzFeed to give his best impressions of some of the show’s most popular characters and scenes. With the departure of Harry Shearer, the actor who voices characters including Ned Flanders and Mr. Burns, Cruz jokes, “I’m auditioning for any part I can get in ‘The Simpsons.’ ”

{mosads}Cruz gives his best version of Burns, the rich and evil owner of the town’s nuclear power plant, and Flanders, Home Simpson’s jovial next-door neighbor. He also acts out two scenes, including an iconic scene from a presidential debate with an alien pretending to be Bill Clinton.

“I have been told many times, I have a face for radio, and I have a face for animation,” Cruz jokes at the end.

Cruz has regularly shared his “Simpsons” fandom, sometimes tweeting out short clips in connection with political news.

But that affection is not necessarily a two-way street. Al Jean, the show’s showrunner, needled the Texas senator during an interview with The Daily Beast and said a vote for Cruz would be a throwaway.
