TV ad hits ‘skinny-dipping’ lawmaker

Republican Rep. Kevin Yoder’s (R-Kan.) challenger is accusing the GOP lawmaker of “skinny-dipping on the job,” reminding voters of his nude swim.

The first TV ad from former Kansas state Sen. Kelly Kultala (D) splashes criticism on Yoder over Medicare support, increasing the minimum wage and education funding.

{mosads}”Yoder lines the pockets of his millionaire donors with big tax cuts, and they line his — when he has pockets,” a female voice says in the 30-second spot.

The ad targeting voters in the solidly-red district features bare-skinned people poolside and a man wearing a hard hat while basking in the sun.

The ad references an incident in 2011, when several Republican congressmen reportedly swam in the Sea of Galilee during a privately funded fact-finding trip to Israel.

Yoder was the only one identified as swimming without a bathing suit. He later apologized to constituents.

The Sea of Galilee is where the Bible says Jesus walked on water.

“[Yoder’s] votes to shut down the government, take money from education, and turn Medicare into a voucher program are not in line with the values of Kansas’ families,” Kultala said in a statement.
