Son of slain Sikh leader loses primary to face Paul Ryan

Filmmaker and gun control activist Amar Kaleka (D), the son of slain Sikh leader Kaleka Singh, has lost his primary to face Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) this fall.

{mosads}The Associated Press has called the race for 2012 Democratic nominee Rob Zerban (D), who led Kaleka 78 percent to 22 percent with 64 percent of precincts reporting.

Kaleka got into politics after his father, the head of a local Sikh temple, was killed by a white supremacist in 2012. He generated some buzz when he first got in the race, but his campaign never took off.

Zerban will get a rematch against Paul, whom he lost to by a double-digit margin in 2012.
