RNC outraises DNC by $3M in August
The Republican National Committee outraised its Democratic counterpart by nearly $3 million in fundraising last month, raking in $10.1 million to the Democratic National Committee’s $7.4 million.
That brings the RNC’s total to $14.5 million cash on hand heading into the final stretch of the crucial midterm elections.
{mosads}The DNC spent more than $5.8 million last month and has more than $11 million in the bank, The Associated Press reported.
The RNC has raised $150.4 million for the 2014 cycle, outpacing the DNC by more than $15 million, though House Republicans’ campaign arm has lagged far behind House Democrats’ campaign operation in the money game this cycle.
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said the latest figures represented the best August on record for the committee during a midterm-election year.
“Our focus is on offering our candidates the on-the-ground support they need to engage with their communities and to get out the vote,” Priebus said. “By making early investments, we’ve been able to supply our candidates with superior data and new voter contact apps and tools, and we’ve been able to expand the map so that we have multiple paths to taking back the Senate.”
The RNC has outraised the DNC in 11 of the last 20 months, an AP analysis revealed. But the DNC beat the RNC in six of the first seven months this year.
