Booker: ‘I am not open to being president’

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) said Saturday he doesn’t “care about 2020,” brushing off questions about running for president.

“Too many things can happen that can hurt people in our nation and around the globe if this president isn’t checked,” Booker told CNN during an interview at the Women’s March in Washington.

“Right now, I don’t care about 2020. I don’t care about 2018,” he said.

“I am not open to being president,” he continued. “I don’t even want to have the discussion right now.”

{mosads}Booker has been one of the many names tossed out as a potential candidate for a Democratic presidential run in 2020.

Instead, he said the focus needs to be on fighting President Trump and his administration’s policies.

“The reality is Donald Trump is president, and bad things happen,” he said. “I think this is a bad thing. But, they don’t define you. What defines you is how you choose to respond to that.”

He described the Women’s March as something that made him feel “ignited” after Trump’s inauguration Friday, knocking the president’s character along the campaign trail and into the Oval Office.

“I want actions now,” Booker said.
