Rubio slams ‘silly’ attacks over repetition

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio on Wednesday slammed the “silly” attacks made against him for repeating a message several times during last week’s debate.

Rubio said he repeats himself because he wants to get his message across.

{mosads}”Of course you say the same thing in a lot of places because you have a message that you’re trying to drive,” he told host Sean Hannity on Fox News.

“It may be the 100th time that a member of the press corps hears it, but it may be the first and only time that that voter gets to hear it,” he added.

Traditionally, Rubio said, politicians are attacked when they change their message.

“In this case, you say the same thing and that’s a problem,” he said.

Rubio said that when Chris Christie criticized him for repeating his message at the debate, he should have “pivoted back and pointed to his record.”

But Rubio said he wanted to avoid yelling at another Republican on the debate stage, so instead, he kept repeating a line attacking President Obama. 

“When Republicans are doing this stuff to each other, the Democrats are sitting on the side just cheering. They love it. They love this stuff,” he said.

“It’s doing their dirty work for them.”

Christie suspended his campaign Wednesday after a poor performance in the New Hampshire primary.
