Warner to fundraise for Ready for Hillary

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) will be the “special guest” at a fundraiser next month for the group urging Hillary Clinton to run for president.

Warner is the latest Democrat to support the Ready for Hillary super-PAC, which has been raising small donations since last year to prepare for a possible Clinton run in 2016.

{mosads}Warner, who was viewed as a potential presidential candidate in past elections, will attend the low-dollar fundraiser in Richmond, Va., on Aug. 5. His home state colleague Sen. Tim Kaine (D) has already endorsed Clinton.

Ready for Hillary also posted an invitation to a young professionals fundraiser in Washington, D.C., which Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) is slated to attend.

A number of high-profile Democrats have already come out in support of Hillary Clinton or helped fundraise for the group, including Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). Freshman Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) helped host a fundraiser for the group over the weekend.

On Tuesday, the group announced it raised $2.5 million in the second quarter of the year from more than 43,000 donors. It noted 98 percent of the donations were $100 or less.

Tickets to the Warner fundraiser range from $20 to $201.
