Huntsman ‘open’ to another WH run
Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman (R) says he is open to another run for president but is unsure how he will get through the early primaries.
“I’m open, but here’s the deal: You have to be able to create a pathway from point A to point B,” Huntsman told Larry King in an interview for Ora.tv set to air May 8.
{mosads}Huntsman ran in 2012 but skipped the Iowa caucus and dropped out after failing to make a strong showing in the New Hampshire primary. He alluded to his difficulty appealing to Republican primary voters in the interview.
“I can tell you how I’d get to the finish line from Super Tuesday, but I can’t tell you how I get through those early primary states, having been there and done that once before,” he said.
Huntsman also praised former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, for whom he worked as ambassador to China in the Obama administration. He seemed to realize lauding her would also not help him in a Republican presidential primary.
“At the risk of totally destroying my future in politics, I have to say she is a very impressive public servant,” Huntsman said. “I have to say I haven’t been around too many people as professional, as well briefed, as good with people at all levels of life, whether a head of state or the person holding open the door.”
